$10 million upgrade of the Emerald Aquatic Centre

During construction J.H. Cockerell were engaged by Council as the Contract’s Superintendent and to also provide quality control inspections for work they designed which included the following:

  • 50m x 25m fully tiled swimming pool
  • 19m x 13m Splashpad
  • 15.5m x 7.5m fully tiled and heated indoor learn to swim pool
  • Shade structures to both the 50m pool and Splashpad
  • Plant rooms and storage facilities
  • Swim Club and Control Room
  • Covered picnic shelters

The Emerald Aquatic Centre upgrade completed successfully to the community‘s satisfaction.

New $9 million Gatton Aquatic Centre

Lockyer Valley Regional Council appointed J.H. Cockerell as the Project Manager and Specialist Pool Engineer for the design of a new Aquatic Centre at the Gatton Showgrounds. Fulton Trotter were Architects for the Project:

  • 50m x 25m fully tiled and heated swimming pool
  • Shade structures to both ends of the 50m swimming pool
  • 5.7m x 8.3m fully tiled and heated indoor learn to swim pool
  • Amenities Building
  • Learn to swim plant room and storage facilities
  • 50m swimming pool plant room and storage facilities
  • Kiosk with 20m x 20m outdoor covered area
  • Club house and Control room

Douglas Construction and Engineering took possession of a section of the Gatton Showground site, having been awarded a contract by the Lockyer Valley Regional Council to construct the new Aquatic Centre which will form part of the Lockyer Valley Sports and Aquatic Centre.

Alpha War Memorial Pool Complex

JHC worked with the Barcaldine Regional Council to design and document a new 25m x 16m Pool and associated Plant Room for the Alpha War Memorial Pool Complex. The existing 40 year old 25 metre swimming pool is being replaced with a modern wetdeck pool that will be enjoyed by the Alpha community for the next 50 years.

Hutchinson Builders took possession of Alpha War Memorial Pool Complex, having been awarded a contract by the Barcaldine Regional Council to construct a new 25m x 16m Pool and associated Plant Room. Council’s Engineer has been appointed as the Contract’s Superintendent and he will also oversee quality control during construction. J.H. Cockerell has been commissioned by Council to provide their Engineer with technical support and carry out site inspections with him at critical phases of the contract’s execution.

Upgrade of the Springsures 25m Pool

Having completed documentation for raising the walls and replacing the concourse on Springsure’s 40 to 50 year old 25 metre pool, J.H. Cockerell were commissioned by the Central Highlands Regional Council to provide site construction services. Technical Contracting Solutions were awarded a contract for the Upgrade.

When work on the Upgrade had been completed, residents in and around Springsure were thrilled to have what looked like a new pool to start the swimming season.

Local Buy

Local Government Regulation stipulates requirements of Councils when entering into Contracts. Through “Local Buy” a Local Government may enter into a contract without first inviting written quotes or going out to Tender.

J. H. Cockerell Pty Ltd was appointed to Local Buy’s Planning, Design & Architectural Consultancy Services – Contract BUS 245-0314. Under Planning, Design & Architectural Consultancy services, J.H. Cockerell has been awarded the following categories:

  • Planning – Infrastructure Planning
  • Design – Urban, Rural and Regional

Through Local Buy, we can now offer Councils the following services for their new and existing Aquatic Centres;

  • Infrastructure Planning and Management
  • Design and Documentation
  • Construction Quality Control
  • Technical Audits of Existing Facilities

J. H. Cockerell Pty Ltd was also appointed to Local Buy’s Engineering Consultancy Services – Contract BUS 226-0212.
Through Local Buy, J.H. Cockerell can now offer Councils Structural Engineering Services for their new and existing Aquatic Centres.
