Meet Allan Cockerell

Hi, my name is Allan Cockerell.

Following in my father’s footsteps, I have been designing pools all of my working life and I used to spend a lot of time doing laps in pools to keep fit.

About twelve years ago, I had to unexpectedly use a local indoor pool for my swim and after just a few laps, I found myself gasping for air and out of breath.  There was a strong smell in the pool and I knew instantly, that something wasn’t quite right.  That’s when I realised, the problem was pool water treatment and my previous understanding wasn’t quite accurate or complete.

For the next few years, I researched overseas standards and codes, attended international Aquatic conferences, all of which which led me to the German DIN Standards for public pool water quality.

Having identified the importance of DIN-19643 in particular, JH Cockerell is totally committed to applying that German Standard to ensure the health of public pool users is never compromised, despite the absence of adequate health authority regulations.

In recent years, most of my work has been audits and reports on a wide variety of substantial public pool design defects such as: inadequate water circulation, ineffective filtration, substantial water loss and non-compliance with FINA standards for various reasons.
